Police officer sacked for having sex 'on numerous occasions' while on duty
The Devon and Cornwall officer, who was dismissed without notice, also had sex with a "vulnerable witness" during the three year period.
The officer faced a misconduct panel last month to face allegations that had breached the standards of professional behaviour of the police.
In particular, they breached standards pertaining to 'confidentiality', 'duties and responsibilities', 'orders and instructions', 'honesty and integrity' and 'discreditable conduct'.
A statement issued after the hearing said: "The officer had, it was found, breached those duties in 2012 – 2014, on numerous occasions by engaging in sexual intercourse whilst on duty, including on one occasion with a vulnerable witness, and obtaining and providing third party information to a person without any policing purpose.
The panel concluded that taken together, the breaches of the professional standards amounted to gross misconduct and imposed the disciplinary action of dismissal without notice as a result.
The name of the officer involved and where they worked has not been released. The misconduct hearing was held in private on March 2.
